‘Xbox Live’ To Debut On Nov 5 In India

New Delhi: After many postponements and hardships, Software major, Microsoft India is on the brink of introducing its online gaming console ‘Xbox Live’ publicly on November 5, as a Diwali gift for its users.

Robbie Bach, Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division President (Global), said, “The Xbox LIVE service will be available to users to log on and sample for free with the Silver subscription level and a paid Gold membership to offer the best in gaming and entertainment to consumers who want a heightened entertainment experience.”

Microsoft India anticipates that around 100 million users would sign up the new ‘Xbox LIVE’ services over the next five years.

Ravi Venkatesan, Microsoft India Chairman said, “Though we are targeting 100 million users, but 10 million over the next three years will also be a decent number.”

Now, the users can log on Xbox LIVE not just for games but also to find their daily dose of amusement with special Indian content including previews of Hanuman Returns and content from the UTV stable of films too. The users can also enjoy the content related to Love Story 2050, a movie starring Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja.

Mr. Bach said, “'LIVE has always been a differentiating factor for XBox from its competitors like Nintendo and Sony.”

Microsoft has also join hands with Seventymm, a movie rentals company for a rent-a-game service that will let users to rent the most recent Xbox 360 games for a fixed number of days.

Microsoft has introduced an accessories range to complete the XBox gaming experience comprising Xbox Live Vision camera, Xbox 360 Wireless and Wired Headset, Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, and Xbox 360 Text input device etc.

India is the 26th nation where Microsoft has launched its LIVE service.
