Wolfsburg, Germany - Bundesliga club Wolfsburg hope to have Japanese international Makoto Hasebe back in action before the end of the season after he underwent surgery on his left knee.

Coach Felix Magath said Hasebe should be sidelined for three weeks but would begin rehabilitation work on Friday.

The 25-year-old midfielder underwent an arthroscopy on his knee in Hamburg on Wednesday after suffering an injury playing for Japan against Bahrain on Saturday. (dpa)
