Witnesses in Virginia and Ohio record video footage of ‘Fireball Meteor’
On Saturday evening, many spectators throughout the Northeast US saw a fireball, also called a quite bright meteor, flying across the sky at nearly 6:16 pm.
One of the spectators, Alex Salvador was driving in Falls Church, Virginia, when suddenly he noticed the fireball and captured it on his dashcam.
While describing the sighting to ABC News, Salvador said, “Startling. Even unnerving, maybe. It seemed close, big, and definitely on fire with a tail”.
Another witness Adrian Burns captured the fireball video footage when he was driving in Lancaster, Ohio.
A number of people visited the American Meteor Society website for reporting their sightings and observations. They described that the fireball has colorful fragments and was looking like as if it ‘fell apart or exploded’.
There is nothing to be surprise about in clearing spotting the fireball, since as per the AMS, a fireball is brighter as compared to the planet Venus.
According to witnesses, a probably fireball meteor has been spotted in the sky over Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Alexander Salvador captured the video on a dashcam at 6:17 pm on Saturday, featuring a streak streaming across the sky above Falls Church, Va. As per observers, it was quite huge and extremely bright but then observed it fizzled, disintegrating into ruins.
The US space agency said that a fireball is a strange bright meteor that reaches a particular brightness.
The American Meteor Society has been reported hundreds of fireball sightings in the past, which tracks fireballs, throughout the northeast. The organization motives people to come forward and log a report describing the sighting on its website.
Until now, there have been no reports of any fragments striking the ground and no official statement has come over what the object was.
