Wikipad gaming tablet available for pre-order at GameStop
The Wikipad gaming tablet - a 10.1-inch touch-screen device which was recently on display at the GameStop EXPO in San Antonio, Texas - is available for pre-orders at GameStop from today, September 7.
The $499-priced Wikipad gaming tablet - scheduled to hit the markets on October 31 - is a highly versatile device, which will be accompanied by a hook-on console-quality gamepad controller, complete with joystick and buttons.
Powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 3, Wikipad gaming tablet will play Android games as well as PlayStation Mobile games from Sony. Moreover, with Sony's recent takeover of cloud-gaming company Gaikai, it is also possible that the tablet may come with the additional advantage of streaming PlayStation-quality games on to it.
About the possibility for streamed PlayStation-quality games on the new Wikipad tablet, James Bower - the CEO of Wikipad - said that the details pertaining to the games from the Sony Cloud service - which has now been renamed Gaikai - will be divulged shortly.
Describing the Wikipad as "one of the thinnest, lightest, fastest tablets on the market," Bower said that the tablet will run the latest Android OS `Jelly Bean' version, and its 10.1 inch IPS screen will boast 1280 by 800 resolution.
Further adding that the Wikipad team has worked in close collaboration with NVIDIA to deliver the kind of console-quality games which the die-hard gamers will love to play, Bower said: "There are some distinct advantages when it comes to gameplay on the Tegra 3 processor. The graphics are fantastic."
