Warren Buffett Tops The Forbes’ Annual List Of Billionaires
America’s Legendary Investor, Warren Buffett ($62 billion) has become the world’s richest person edging out Mexican telecom tycoon, Carlos Slim Helu ($60 billion) and the software giant, Bill Gates ($58 billion) in the Forbes’ annual list of billionaires.
Omaha, Nebraska based largest shareholder and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett has been listed at number one position, while Carlos Slim Helu ($60 billion) and Mr. Gates ($58 billion) are at second and third positions respectively.
Released on Wednesday evening, the Forbes’ list has shown NRI steel baron Lakshmi Mittal ($45 billion), Mukesh Ambani ($43 billion), Anil Ambani ($42 billion), and realty baron K P Singh ($30 billion) at 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th positions, respectively. Anil Ambani has beaten his big brother Mukesh Ambani in terms of wealth created in the last one year.
The other Indians who have got berth in the Forbes list include Essar group’s Shashi and Ravi Ruia ($15 billion) and Wipro’s Azim Premji ($12.7 billion), who are listed at 43rd and 60th positions respectively.
The list has also enrolled some new comers, such as India’s youngest billionaire Sameer Gehlaut ($1.2 billion) and Gautam Adani (91st with $9.3 billion).
It also shows Sunil Mittal & family (64th with $11.8 billion), Kumar Birla (76th with $10.2 billion), Unitech’s Ramesh Chandra (86th with $9.6 billion), Savitri Jindal & family (110th with $8.2 billion), Anil Agarwal (164th with $6 billion), Adi Godrej & family (178th with $5.5 billion), and GMR’s GM Rao (198th with $5.2 billion).
According to Forbes, the number of billionaires had crossed into four figures for the first time and two-third of them are self-made billionaires, having built their empires from scratch. The total number of Asian billionaires has surged to 211, taking 3rd position in the world with a total wealth of $804 billion.
