Volvo S60 seeks bigger pie of Indian market

Volvo-S60S60, the latest offering from Volvo's stable seeks to enter into the Indian market soon. The Swedish giant plans to showcase the S60 by June.

This model boasts of performance and power and it is technically fit with T6 engine, 3 litres and 304 hp. It also features a diesel version, which has a stronger engine D5 with a 5 cylinder engine generates 205 hp. The car has been designed by Peter Horbury.

The S60 boasts of all the latest features of security retaining its trademark of being 'the safety device'. The advanced security measures include features like calculating distance of pedestrians and avoiding a crash with them. If by chance the driver fails to apply the brake the vehicle automatically stops just in front of the person provided the speed is below 35 km/hr.

It also comes with SITEME feature, which consists of a radar in the front grille and a rear view camera, which controls the unit. The car will enter India with the diesel version first followed by the petrol versions.

Volvo has sold 140 units in 2009 in Indian sub continent. The S60 targets 90000 units globally in the first year and 5 lakh units in another two to three years. Indian buyers will have to shell out Rs. 28 lakh for the car's base model and Rs. 32 lakh for higher models.
