Voluntary Recall of Tylenol Arthritis Caplets Expanded by J&J

Johnson & JohnsonAs confirmed by the company, Johnson & Johnson is expanding the voluntary recall of its arthritis treatment medicine, Tylenol Arthritis Caplet, mainly on the back of customers reporting of "moldy smell that can cause nausea and stomach pain".

As per the statement released on the official website of the US Food and Drug Administration, the pharma company is now recalling all lots of the "Arthritis Pain Caplet 100 count bottles with the red EZ-Open Cap".

Last month, 5 lots of the product were recalled.

As per the manufacturer company, the odor is caused as a result of the traces of the chemical 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, which is used to treat the wooden panels where the company keeps the bottles of the drug before they are transported.

All the side effects reported, up until now, have been non-serious and short lived, and the recall is being undertaken to ensure that no serious side effects emerge.

After moving into a new facility, J&J will re-introduce the product in January.
