Volkswagen keen on alliance with Maruti in IndiaJust days after Volkswagen picked up a 20% stake in Suzuki Motor Corporation, experts labelled the deal as the attempt to gain ground in the emerging markets.

With India being a vital part of every automaker’s strategy nowadays, Volkswagen is also willing to jointly developing products with Maruti Suzuki India. While the strategy will be aiming to achieve synergy with Suzuki Motor Corp at the global level, the $2.5 billion deal may fetch gold to Volkswagen in no time keeping in mind the expertise of Suzuki in making small cars.

Volkswagen (VW) management board member Christian Klingler recently said that there will be some projects that will hit the Indian market in the coming times.

Moreover, he also pointed out the fact that as Suzuki has a lot of experience in making profitable small cars, it will help the German auto major at a global level as well as in India.

It is believed that the synergy could well be possible at the supplier level as well as already VW has announced it plans to increase its sourcing of components from India for its global operations.
