Volkswagen big chance in IndiaKeeping in mind that sister brands like Audi and Skoda is very much popular with the Indian consumer, Volkswagen isn't. The company ahs however made several attempts to gain brand recall and is continuously investing in such activities to get a mindshare of the Indian consumer. Be it the road blocking activities the company does or cutting the newspaper into the shape of legendary Beetle, the German carmaker has surely made a lot of noise in the Indian market.

However, it has managed to walk a few steps as the consumers are willing to wait for 3-4 months for their new Polo. However, it is believed that the company will be launching a mass sedan product in India competing with products like SX4, Fiesta and Verna.

Moreover, Volkswagen is also firming up plans to launch hatchback in the Indian market.

It may be noted here that the company today produces/assembles the Polo, Jetta and Passat in India while it imports the Phaeton, Touareg and Beetle for the Indian consumer out of its Chakan plant. Notably, the Chakan plant as of today has a capacity to produce 1,10,000 vehicles annually.
