Verizon: Nearly 13% contract customers have adopted ‘Share Everything’ plans
During the course of Verizon Wireless' Thursday earnings call, Fran Shammo - the carrier's chief financial officer - revealed that the company's `Share Everything' shared data plans have been adopted by nearly 13 percent of its contract customers.
The Share Everything plans - which include unlimited voice and text messages, as well as a number of tiered data options - were introduced by Verizon on June this year, giving the carrier's customers the ability to add as many as 10 Verizon devices onto a single wireless plan.
Noting that the adoption of the Share Everything plans has surpassed Verizon's expectations, Shammo said that plans have also played a notable role in "stimulating device adoption," especially the 4G LTE devices.
Going by the statistics shared by Verizon, a whopping 95 percent of postpaid Internet device activations during the most recent quarter were 4G. As compared to the second-quarter figures of 2.5 million activations of 4G LTE smartphones, Verizon activated 3.7 million 4G LTE handsets in the third quarter. The end-of-the-quarter figures showed that, speaking in overall terms, Verizon's contract customers had 14.9 million - or nearly 16.5 percent - 4G LTE phones and devices among themselves.
Noting that Verizon is "seeing customers who were on unlimited plans move to Share Everything plan," Shammo said that an increasing number of users were also "attaching more devices", including smartphones.
