Unlocked iPhones being sold by Apple in Hong Kong
In its latest move, an unlocked version of iPhone 3G has been launched by Apple in Hong Kong, giving the independence to the consumers to pick whichever carrier they want.
This comes as an extreme opposite to the policy of the Apple, as unlocked iPhones are uncontrolled in almost all other parts of the world. However, that is not something that Apple has sanctioned.
An apple site recently informed that for these handsets, one will have to shell about $695 (5,400 Hong Kong dollars) for an 8GB version and for a 16 GB model, the price would be $798 (6,200 HK dollars).
The website says, “The iPhone 3G purchased at the Apple Online Store can be activated with any wireless carrier. Simply insert the SIM from your current phone into iPhone 3G and connect to iTunes 8 to complete activation.”
