Unlimited Music Service Unveiled By Vodafone In Australia
As from today, Vodafone users in Australia can download as much as music they want to their mobiles, for the fixed cost of $2.75 per week. This has led Vodafone to throw a real challenge at its competitors including iTunes and Bigpond Music in the music download market.
Omnifone, the carrier music platform provider reported, “We are working on a version of the service, branded MusicStation that could be offered to home computer users.”
Further, the managing director of Omnifone Asia Pacific, David Loiterton, informed, “The Company had begun work on a version of the service for computers designed to work with the mobile version of the service.”
The carrier will actually provide the fixed internet version of the service. Karen Paterson head of Vodafone Live Australia, reported that they are looking into it and they see it as a logical and intelligent future development.
Vodafone MusicStation, which will be available on nine handsets at the launch, is being planned to be extended in near future. As Ms Paterson said, “We're launching on nine handsets but we're going to be ramping up very quickly.”
Vodafone announced that this service would be available through a remade version on some Blackberry models. However, till now it has not been cleared whether the services will be available on Apple's iPhone. The company said that downloads to the handset would not be included in monthly data allowances.
