Undue interference in my work forced me to resign : Sherry Rehman

karachiKarachi, Mar. 20 : Former Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister, Sherry Rehman has said that she resigned from the post due to the excessive interference of some ministers in the work of her ministry.

Rehman said that the unwarranted interference in her work by some ministers had affected her prestige.

She said it was this undue interference that convinced her to quit.

Rehman told media persons at the airport here that she didn’t wanted to destabilize the government, and that her party PPP would not back away from any reconciliation efforts.

Since the PPP took power, Sherry had been constantly blamed for giving free hand to the media, especially to news channels and for not applying coercive PEMRA laws in letter and spirit.

She also resisted moves to bring PEMRA under the Ministry of Interior as proposed by Rehman Malik.

Attempts were also made in the past to get rid of her, but she survived all these onslaughts. This was not the case now, as she herself decided to resign. (ANI)
