London, Nov.17: Senior British security officials have called for the putting up of posters to warn people what to do in the event of a bomb attack.

These posters are likely to be put up at shopping centres and airports, The Mirror quoted officials, as saying.

The posters would be similar to fire procedure notices seen in most public buildings that tel people what to do in a blaze, but in the event of a terror strike or a bomb blast, people would be advised how best to act.
 
All such emergency notices will have a list of instructions. These include to stay inside if a blast goes off outside a building, in case there is a second bomb in the area, and to stay away from windows, lifts and outer doors to avoid more blasts.

The chemical, biological and radiological attack posters warn people about the dangers of contamination and how to avoid spreading it.

They will also remind people the best defence against terrorism is vigilance and urge everyone to report anything suspicious.

The security source said: "Our physical landscape has to change to cope with the continued terrorist threat. This is not only in the design and protection of key buildings. It's important people are aware of the dangers of terrorism and what to do if there is an attack. We do not want people rushing outside if there is a bomb blast in the street because we know of the potential dangers of a multiple attack."

The move comes days after Gordon Brown unveiled new anti-terror plans which include a huge increase in searches at rail terminals.

Measures also include building bollards to stop car bombers outside 250 shopping centres, stadiums, train stations and airports. (ANI)
