UK Muslim woman seeks 30,000 pounds for being denied a hairstylist's job

London, Apr. 1 : UK Muslim woman seeks 30,000 pounds for being denied a hairstylist's jobA Muslim woman has demanded 30,000 pounds as settlement of a dispute in which she claimed that she was denied a job for wearing a headscarf.

Budding stylist Bushra Noah, 19, is demanding the cash on the grounds of religious discrimination, The Sun reports.

She told an employment tribunal that salon owner Sarah Desrosiers denied her the junior stylist post, as she would not show her hair.

Desrosiers, 32, whose Wedge Salon in London's King's Cross specialises in alternative cuts, denied the claims - saying staff were not even allowed caps as part of the "selling image".

Noah claimed that she has been wearing her headscarf since she was 13, and that wearing it did not mean she could not assist in hairdressing. (ANI)
