U.S. must revise its behavior towards Iran, says Ahmadinejad

Tehran, Nov.17: President Mahmid Ahmadinejad has called on the United States Government to revise its behavior towards Iran.

“We do not expect them to apologize, but to change their conduct,” Tehran Times quoted Ahmadinejad as telling the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) service.

After IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei released his report on Iran’s nuclear program on Thursday, saying that Tehran’s cooperation with IAEA was “sufficient”, U.S. officials resumed making statements against the Islamic Republic.

“The United States will work with our partners on the UN Security Council and Germany as we move towards a third set of Security Council sanctions,"" White House spokeswoman Dana Perino stated.

Euro News reported on Friday that U.S. State Department spokesman Tom Casey said Washington would push for more sanctions as it believed Iran was holding back.

In an address to U.S. officials, Ahmadinejad stated: “The world will not listen to you anymore, anything that you say, the world will interpret the opposite, and any stance that you adopt, the world will suppose the opposite to be the truth.”

ElBaradei’s report was quite “realistic and mostly uninfluenced by the pressure from superpowers,” the president told Iranian state television.

Since some years ago, the United States tried to pressure the IAEA and use Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities as a pretext for creating and fueling tensions in the region, he said.

“To us, the issue is over; now let’s work on more important issues such as poverty, insecurity, discrimination, drug trafficking, and scientific and economic cooperation in the world,” Ahmadinejad said. (ANI)
