Two held for killing manager

Mumbai: The Mumbai police have claimed that it has solved the murder case of a manager who was found dead at a restaurant in Nana Chowk last week. The police had arrested Ashok Mahanand (20) and Hemsagar Yadav (18) who allegedly killed restaurant cashier Haroon Habib Seliya in Gamdevi on Friday. Both these were working as the staff members in the New Heroes Restaurant. They belong to Daismandi village in Orissa.

According to the police Haroon Habib Seliya, had been a cashier and manager at the New Heroes Restaurant for the last eight years. He used to sleep in the hotel at night, the other staff slept in a separate room.

Speaking on this, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II), Rajendra Dabhade said, “On Thursday night when Haroon was fast asleep, Mahanand entered his room and tried to take the keys to the cash drawer from his pocket. Though Haroon woke up but before he could raise an alarm, Mahanand picked up a chopper kept nearby and hit Haroon’s head with it. He died of the blow.” He also disclosed that the Haroon’s body was discovered by hotel staffer, Sattar at 6:30 am.

Meanwhile, NG Dumbare, senior police inspector, Gamdevi police station said, “Investigations revealed that around Rs 14,000 were stolen from the cash drawer. We recovered the murder weapon from the spot, and learnt that two of the staffers had gone missing after the crime.”
