Kabul - Two German soldiers and five children were killed in a suicide attack on German troops near the city of Kunduz in Northern Afghanistan, the provincial government said Monday.

Two further German soldiers had been injured in the attack, said Kunduz provincial governor Mohammad Omar. The children had been playing near the site of the blast.

The German defence ministry confirmed the attack which occurred about 0800 GMT. (dpa)
