Twitter launches new business guide and search widget

TwitterIn an attempt to depict that businesses can profit from its popular micro-blogging service, Twitter Inc. has launched a new business guide, which it announced alongside the Thursday launch a live-updating search tool.

In a few days, Twitter intends kicking off a marketing campaign, which would essentially be aimed at educating users, individual and corporate, about ways to make money using the well-known micro-blogging site.

Twitter’s newly-launched business-specific service, Twitter 101, largely comprises web pages, a downloadable slideshow and several case studies depicting how businesses can make the service work for them.

At a conference on Thursday, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said that the company intends rolling out a succession of paid services, which will help businesses manage different aspects of business like verifying of accounts and analyzing of traffic.

Meanwhile, the new search widget launched by Twitter would facilitate the creation of a continuous real-time update box by users, on a custom search topic. Going by the initial information about the tool, it appears that it can be custom edited and placed on a web page.

Commenting on the new additions to the site that has skyrocketed in usage and status, Stone said: “We see ourselves as complementary to big social networks, to search engines, to big commercial sites. The key takeaway there is that we're thinking big and we're in it for the long haul.”
