TVS eying growth in three-wheeler biz

tvsThe Chennai-based two-wheeler major, TVS Motors has recently said that the company is is hoping to sell its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fired three wheelers in sizable numbers to new permit holders in Tamil Nadu.

It is to be mentioned that the Tamil Nadu government has recently agreed to issue close to 8,000 new auto rickshaw permits (3,100 in Chennai and 4,900 in rest of the state) in the first phase.

TVS Motors president (Marketing) HS Goindi recently that the company is hoping to get a 20 per cent share of the new market that has come up recently.

Moreover, Goindi surely pointed towards the concerns of capacity and said that it is the only major constraint for the company to cater to the new huge demand that is set to emerge following the issue of new permits.

It may be noted here the state government had revoked a 12- year ban on issue of new permits to meet the growing need for public transport in May this year.

Goindi also mentioned that it will surely take time for the permit holders to tie up finance and decide on the model purchase but the company is geared to cater to new demand.
