Turkish man arrested for plotting to kill Obama

Turkish man arrested for plotting to kill ObamaAnkara (Turkey), Apr. 7 : Turkish police have arrested a man for plotting to kill US President Obama.

The Secret Service said the man was arrested last Friday in Istanbul. A spokesman of the service said the president was never in any immediate danger.

Security has been tightened around the traveling White House press corps due to suspicion of phoney members in the media. The scrutiny of press baggage intensified as news outlets left Prague for Ankara on Sunday and before departing Ankara today for Istanbul.

In Prague the carry luggage of every member of the traveling White House press corps was "swept" by the Secret Service on the tarmac before they boarded the press charter -- highly unusual since the corps were not flying with the president aboard Air Force One.

This "sweep" consisted of Secret Service dogs searching the luggage to see if they "hit" on anything suspicious.

No one on the charter was personally searched with a hand-held metal detector. The increased scrutiny was applied only to the traveling press corps'' carry-on luggage. (ANI)
