Indian-born TV chef Padma Lakshmi has become a proud mother of a baby girl named Krishna Thea Lakshmi.

According to the reports, both mom and baby are fine and glad.

Author Salman Rushdie's ex-wife had branded the gestation a "medical wonder" after years of struggling with adenomyosis, in which the uterus lining grows in other body regions.

A spokesperson for the Padma Lakshmi confirmed that the beauty delivered a healthy baby girl on Saturday in New York.

Though she has yet to disclose the name of the baby's father, Padma announced in Oct 2009 that she was expecting her first baby.

Recent reports suggested that the baby's father is a venture capitalist and Columbia Business School teacher Michael Dell. (With Input from Agencies)
