Three members of same family murdered in northern Iraq

Baghdad - Extremists in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul killed three members of the same family, the US military reported on Friday.

According to the report, a mother, father and son were shot dead on Thursday in their home.

Meanwhile, in the central Iraqi province of Diyala, US troops said they discovered the bodies of four people who had likely been killed a year and a half ago. The bodies found buried in the area of Ghalibiya were those of two teenaged girls and two Iraqi soldiers.

On Friday, the US military in Baghdad detained two suspected members of the Shiite militia Kataib Hizbollah, a group believed by the US to be supported by Iran. (dpa)
