Google and CDC Team Up to Track Flu TrendsGoogle Inc., through Google.org, is launching “Flu Trends” to track geographic outbreaks of illnesses in time and warn potential victims early enough to enable them to get a preventive vaccine. Working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Flu Trends hopes to track the number of searches by Google users for flu related items like "thermometer" and "cold remedies." According to the Drudge Report "anonymized, aggregated counts of how often certain search queries occur each week," could indicate a flu outbreak in the area.

Sun unveils open-source storage line

On Monday; Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage Systems line was unveiled by Sun Microsystems. The company is hoping to boost up its business through it, which at present has taken a down track.

Earlier, the Sun Storage 7000 line was known as “Amber Road”, and by adding open source to its hardware, it hopes to better the company’s storage business. The customers would also find it easier to install and configure the systems and reduce costs through this move.

The performance would be increased through the three open-source storage and the Sun's Solaris Zettabyte file system (ZFS) will help in giving lower cooling requirements. The three mew models are as follows:-

Maharashtra Seamless bags order worth Rs 757 croreMaharashtra Seamless Ltd, a leading seamless steel pipe maker, has informed that it has pocketed a contract worth Rs 757 crore from the state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).

According to the sources, the proposed order has been bagged for the supply of seamless casing pipes.

The sources further revealed that with this contract, the order-book of the conglomerate stood at Rs 1,370 crore.

According to the reports, in June, Maharashtra Seamless Ltd had won an export order of 45 million dollar from a US firm.

Valecha Engineering bags Rs 160 crore orders

Valecha Engineering bags Rs 160 crore ordersValecha Engineering announced that the company has pocketed two orders worth Rs 160 crore for construction-related work in Delhi and Mumbai.

The source close to the company said that first contract of Rs 110 crore has been bagged for a bridge project in Delhi.

Further, the company secured another project worth Rs 50 crore to execute the sky-walk projects in Mumbai.

According to reports, the sky-walk is an elevated walk-way connecting the railway station and points where there are high concentrations of pedestrians.
