ZTE launches Next Generation of Data Cards

ZTE CorporationLeading telecommunications equipment and network solutions provider, ZTE Corporation ("ZTE") launched new data cards MF662 and MF645, adding two more products in its high speed packet access (HSPA) product portfolio. The MF662 is a compact HSDPA+ data card while MF645 is a USB TV data card used to relay highly quality digital TV signals over laptop with mobile broadband connection.

MF662, specially designed for HSPA+ networks, would offer high speed mobile internet surfing with its adapter offers download and upload rates of up to
21.6 Mbps over 3G network.

Nokia launches new handsetsLeading mobile handset manufacturer, Nokia launched four new handsets at the Mobile World Congress 2009 at Barcelona. The newly launched products include two E-series phones E75, the successor of the popular-with-business people communicator series, and E55 with QWERTY layout.

E75 supports a sliding QWERTY landscape keyboard and highly sophisticated keypad with price tag of _375, available from next month across leading mobile stores in the world. The handset would be the first Nokia mobile to feature Nokia Messaging.

Indian FDI records 45 pc growths despite meltdown

Pranab MukherjeeIndia emerged as best investment destination for investors despite global financial crisis and recessionary waves across the world, recording 45 per cent increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the period between April and December 2008 against the same period last year.

Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, while addressing parliament during presentation of interim budget, said that the country have strong economic fundamentals and it GDP growth rate of 7.1 percent, for the current financial year, makes it as the second fastest growing economy of the world.

Reliance Infrastructure declares shares pledged by promoters

RelianceAnil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure, in a revelation before Bombay Stock Exchange, said that one of its promoters AAA Communication Pvt Ltd. pledged 16.35 per cent stakes in Reliance Infrastructure. Its other promotes includes Reliance Capital, Sonata Investments Ltd, Reliance Inn ventures Pvt. Ltd, Reliance General Insurance Company besides Ambani family.

Total of 3.72 crore shares are able to fetch Rs 2,119.92 crore to the promoter, considering prevailing market price of shares of Reliance Infrastructure. AAA Project Ventures held a 36.66 per cent stake out of 37.33 per cent stake of promoters in the firm.

Hindalco clears financial restructuring planAditya Birla group owned, Hindalco Industries, approved financial restructuring plans for future, chalking out new strategy for further expansion and reserving funds to implement growth plans. Some portion of amount would also utilize for adjustment of non-operating / extraordinary costs aroused on accounts of some international acquisitions and company's ambitious organic growth projects.

The company said, "The aforesaid amount would be utilized for write off or adjustment of non-operating costs on international acquisition made by the company and organic growth projects in India."

Defendants of The Pirate Bay file-sharing case go on trial

Internet piracyIn a case pertaining to copyright theft, four men working at The Pirate Bay file-sharing Web site go on trial in Stockholm. All four of them - Peter Sunde, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Carl Lundstrom, and Fredrik Neij - were supposedly accomplices in breaking copyright law.

If convicted, the four men face a fine of $143,500, and a two-year prison term.
