New logo for Department of Posts to be launched today

New Delhi, Sept 23 : Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Thiru A Raja, will launch the new logo for the Department of Posts here today.

Union Minister of State for Communications and IT Jyotiraditya Scindia will be the guest of honour.

Along with the change of logo, Department of Posts has already launched a series of fully upgraded and completely new look post offices in the services of the rural people.

Called “Project Arrow”, the launch aims to re-vitalize the post office network and enable it to play a larger role in socio-economic transformation of the country.

Kalam launches first of its kind marketing board for disabled

Former President Abdul KalamNew Delhi, Sept 22 : The former President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on Monday launched first of its kind marketing board for the disabled Association for Rehabilitation under National Trust Initiative in Marketing (ARUNIM).

He also launched a helpline– Abiline (011-26166250) for the counseling of parents of disabled, Non Governmental Organisation (NGOs) and people with special needs. He also released a 32 pages booklet of National Trust in English and Telugu.

FM expresses hope of lifting ban on export of non-basmati rice

P ChidambaramNew Delhi, Sept 22 : With prospects of good kharif output, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Monday expressed hope that the ban on export of non-basmati rice, which was imposed as a temporary measure, would be lifted soon.

Chidambaram said this after inaugurating new facility of rice exporting firm Tilda Riceland in Gurgaon in Haryana today.

The government had banned export of non-basmati rice in April as part of initiatives to check rising inflation that touched the 13-year high mark of about 12 per cent.

Government considers allowing industry greater access to foreign funds: ChawlaNew Delhi, Sept 22 (ANI): Economic Affairs Secretary Ashok Chawla on Monday said the government is considering steps such as allowing the industry greater access to foreign funds.

Chawla said the unfolding global situation calls for vigilance on the part of the government and all the regulatory agencies.

However, the Economic Affairs Secretary did not agree that the sources of External Commercial Borrowings (ECB) were drying up because of the turbulent environment in the big economies.

Azamgarh emerges as nursery of terror activities

Uttar Pradesh, AzamgarhNew Delhi, Sept 22 : While the Delhi police claims to have decoded the terror links that shook the national capital on September 13 a small town of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh is coming into limelight for all the wrong reasons.

Once known for Hindu-Muslim synergy and high intellect, the region is now being tagged as the new breeding ground for the militants. The intelligence authorities believe that the region has proved to be a fertile ground for many militant outfits.

The police said that 13 school friends hailing from Azamgarh planned and executed the recent serial blasts in Delhi.
