Tata Motor''s Pantnagar plant all set to roll out NanoPantnagar (Uttarakhand), Mar 19 : The Pantnagar plant of Tata Motors in Uttarakhand is all set to roll out the Nano, the 4-seater, 100,000-rupee price tag super-cheap car for the masses.

In a recent announcement, vehicle maker Tata Motors said that it would launch its Nano on March 23 and accept bookings from the second week of April.

The car, expected to be priced around 100,000 rupees, was unveiled in January 2008. It was scheduled to go on sale last October, but problems with the main plant location delayed the launch.

Volkswagen sticks to expansion plans in ChinaBeijing  - Volkswagen AG said Wednesday that it would hold to its plans for investment and the introduction of new models in China despite the world economic downturn.

The Germany-based carmaker plans to increase its production capacity in its largest foreign market this year by about 5 per cent to 50,000 cars, said Winfried Vahland, head of Volkwagen's operations in China.

Vahland described the carmaker as remaining optimistic on this year's business outlook in China although not as positive as it has been in the past.

Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire marks 100th birthday Geneva  - Bugatti celebrated its 100th birthday by unveiling a Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire special edition at the Geneva Motor Show, taking a cue from the traditional Bugatti with an exclusive colour combination.

The special model, which is a one-off edition, combines "sprint blue matt" and "sprint blue gloss" colours and parts of the engine are also in the traditional Bugatti Blue.

Swiss firm offers Porsche 911 Turbo with natural gas drive Geneva  - The Swiss tuning firm Sportec is offering a Porsche 911 with compressed natural gas (CNG) drive that it claims offers both more power and reduces carbon dioxide emissions in comparison with the conventional model.

Fitted with two additional turbo loaders, the Porsche SP 550 mean & clean boosts the power unit from 480 to 550 hp. A special air filter system provides additional cooling. The six-cylinder engine electronics have been reprogrammed improving acceleration from zero

to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 331 km/h.

VW highlights new "eco" Polo in GenevaGeneva  - Volkswagen highlighted the new, fuel-efficient Polo BlueMotion with fuel consumption of 3.3 litres at the Geneva Motor Show. Production will probably be scheduled for 2010.

A team led by Development Chief Ulrich Hackenberg said development of the new 1.2 litre TDI engine had to be completed first, but that: "I anticipate that we will be able to go into production in February 2010."

Koenigsegg Quant - the all-electric super sports car

Koenigsegg Quant - the all-electric super sports car Geneva  - Swedish sports car maker Koenigsegg has joined forces with the Swiss NLV to build an all-electric, high performance super car with an output of 512 hp and a top speed of 275 kilometres an hour.

At the heart of the power package is the FAES battery system that can be charged from any electric plug in just 20 minutes with a range of 500 kilometres. The battery pack is positioned in the centre of the carbon-fibre monotube chassis.
