Kabul  - The speaker of the US House, Nancy Pelosi met Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday in Kabul for talks on a strategic review of the US mission in Afghanistan, which is currently under way in Washington, presidential palace said.

Three US-led soldiers - whose nationality was not immediately revealed - were meanwhile killed in a roadside bomb attack in southern Uruzgan province.

And hundreds of Afghans blocked a key road links Kabul city to south-eastern provinces to protest the killing and arrest of Afghan civilians by US forces.

Washington, Nov. 22 : US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has chided John McCain for invoking her name in attacking Barack Obama on the campaign trail.

“It was a compliment in some ways to have him use me. I mean, it was really almost bankrupt that he would have to resort to something — most people don''t even know who I am,” Pelosi told reporters during her weekly press conference on Friday.

Washington , Oct. 14 : A House of Representatives member from Florida is being probed for an extra-marital affair on the orders of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Representative Tim Mahoney is under investigation for reportedly paying 121,000 dollars to a former mistress who worked on his staff. The former mistress has also sued him after he threatened her job when she tried to end the relationship.

Mahoney, a Democrat, has also favoured a probe into his own activities.

Washington - The Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi said Saturday she will "consider" allowing offshore drilling in some areas, with "appropriate safeguards."

Pelosi outlined this shift from her earlier opposition to opening new areas to oil exploration, during the Democratic Party's weekly radio address.
