Lahore, Nov 24 : Indus Water Commissioner (Pakistan) chief Jamaat Ali Shah has said that India would make Pakistan barren by 2014 by stopping its water and filling its Baglihar Dam at an increased pace.

Addressing a seminar at the Lahore Press Club, Shah said that India had constructed dams at various rivers and continued doing so.

Speakers from different farmers’ organisations said that India had violated the Indus Water Treaty by constructing Baglihar Dam. They said that if the Pakistani government remained silent, India would destroy Pakistan’s economy and ‘capture the country without a battle’.

Islamabad, Nov 24 : Pakistan President Asif Ai Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani last evening said that in accordance with recommendations of the recently-formed Parliamentary Committee on National Security, the federal government would work out a new strategy to deal with frequent US drone attacks.

The duo reiterated the government’s resolve not to compromise on national sovereignty and integrity.

Lahore, Nov 24: Pakistan’s investigating agency, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has said that the number of illegal immigrants entering Iran from Pakistan had increased compared to last year.

FIA Director Ahsan Shujaat Ali said that in 2008 the Agency intercepted more than 8000 people trying to illegally enter the country.

In 2007 Iranian authorities had handed over more than 6000 illegal immigrants to the FIA at the Pak-Iran border at Taftan, the Daily Times quoted him as saying further.
