US should help India, Pak resolve Kashmir issue: Gilani

SrinagarIslamabad, Jan. 5 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday urged the U. S. to extend its help to both India and Pakistan towards resolving the issue of Kashmir.

His appeal came a day after a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Maulana Abbas Ansari, appealed to the international community to help resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations resolutions.

The award was conferred on Boucher for his services to Pakistan, The News reported.

Karachi court accepts Mumtaz Bhutto’s bail pleaKarachi, Jan. 5 : The court here has accepted the bail petition of Sindh National Front chief Mumtaz Bhutto.

Bhutto was arrested on Saturday morning in Larkana and shifted to Karachi for interrogation. Earlier, he was placed under house arrest in Mirpur for allegedly ordering his workers to attack on the office of a Sindhi newspaper in Karachi.

According to The News, the court had earlier rejected a petition of the police regarding his physical remand and ordered that he be kept in the court''s custody till January

Pak Taliban threaten ‘Sharia’ punishment for women seeking identity cardsLahore, Jan 5 : The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has warned women living in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan against going to the office of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and getting identity cards.

Around 200 women from the region had recently submitted forms for computerised identity cards, which they require to benefit from the Benazir Income Support Programme, BBC Urdu reported.

Individuals involved in terrorism don’t make country ‘terrorist state’: Rasheed

Lahore, Jan 5 : Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said if any individual belonging to any country is involved in acts of terrorism than that does not make the country a terrorist state.

Commenting on the Mumbai terror attacks, he said, "If a citizen of any country is involved in terrorism, it does not imply that his or her country is a terrorist state."

Rasheed also wants various factions of the Pakistan Muslim League to unite, but says that PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif stands as the biggest hurdle in the way.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Rasheed said there is no power crisis in the country, as "it is only a stunt of the present government".
