Banned Md. Asif seeks PCB help to restart his career

Mohammad AsifLahore, Nov 11 : Pakistan’s banned fast bowler Mohammad Asif has reportedly urged the PCB to help and cooperate with him to enable to resume his international career, PCB’s new Chief Operating Officer Saleem Altaf has revealed.

“Asif has written a letter to the (PCB) chairman and wants the cricket board to cooperate with him so that he could start playing international cricket,” The News quoted Altaf as telling reporters on Monday.

He added: “We will see what legal support we could give him in clearing his name. At the moment his suspension stays.”

Earlier, on October 31, the Foreign Office had stated that there were five Pakistanis in the US prison.

Tribesmen in Mohmand Agency asked to expel militants, vacate houses

PakistanGhalanai, Nov 11 : Tension gripped the Mohmand Agency tribal area after the NWFP government asked the tribesmen to expel militants and vacate houses ahead of likely military action.

According to the Dawn, exodus has started from the Anbar sub-division of the region and displaced people were heading towards Peshawar, Mardan and other areas to avoid military operation, local people said.

Zardari to arrive at UN for global dialogue on religion, culture

US & PakistanNew York, Nov 11 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to arrive at the United Nations today to participate in the global dialogue about religion, culture and common values.

Zardari will be accompanied by a five-member delegation, including his country’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

More than 54 heads of state and government, foreign ministers and senior officials have so far confirmed that they would attend the two-day ‘High-Level Meeting on Culture of Peace’, reported the Daily Times.

Lucky Dhillow, a British Sikh, is learnt to have donated this bus for the purpose.

Till last year, while carrying out the Nigar Kirtan, the Sri Guru Granth was placed on the handcart and taken to the various gurdwaras in Nankana Sahib, reported the Daily Times.
