Death toll in Pakistan's Swat Valley clashes rises to 70 Islamabad - Security forces, backed by helicopter gunships and artillery, pounded several militant hideouts Friday as the death toll in three days of fighting in Pakistan's north-western Swat Valley rose to 70, officials and media reports said.

The clashes erupted when pro-Taliban militants killed three intelligence officers and sized up to 30 police and paramilitary troops, putting a two-month peace agreement in the valley in limbo.

Samjhauta Express’ schedule changed

Samjhauta ExpressIslamabad, Aug 1: The schedule of the Indo-Pak rail link Samjhauta Express has been changed. According to the new schedule, the train will leave for India from Lahore in the morning on Mondays and Thursdays and return later the same day.

The new schedule would come into effect on August 7, the Daily Times quoted Railway Chief Operating Superintendent Javed Anwar as saying in a TV interview.

The train will now leave the Lahore Railway Station at 8:00 am on Mondays and Thursdays and return at 4:45 pm the same day, added the paper.

According to the report based on a worldwide research, a total of 2396 terrorist incidents occurred across the world during the said period, thereby killing a total of 4204 people and injuring 7614.
