Sunni-led Iraqi Accord Front to rejoin Premier al-Maliki's cabinet

Baghdad  - A year after withdrawing from the Iraqi government, the Iraqi Accord Front (IAF) announced Tuesday it will rejoin the cabinet, the Al-Arabiya news channel reported.

Salem al-Jaboury, spokesman of the IAF said a list of candidates for the empty cabinet posts was presented to Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, according to Al-Arabiya.

In August last year, the IAF withdrew its five ministers and the deputy premier from the government, claiming it did not meet its demands for a share in political and security decision-making as well as releasing detainees in United States and Iraqi detention centers.

Al-Jaboury said Tuesday that several demands of the Sunni-led front were implemented.

Al-Arabiya said that al-Maliki had approved the list of names.

The IAF, the biggest Sunni bloc in parliament, is composed of three groups and holds 44 out of the total 275 seats. (dpa)
