Sonia Gandhi asked for calibrated liberalizationCongress president and UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi extended her support to calibrated liberalization of economy and said that government is committed to galvanize country from the impact of global slowdown. She called for such economic policies which don't affect the vulnerable sections of society and do not compromise with social justice.

Sonia Gandhi was addressing the conclave of dignitaries including businessmen, officials, bureaucrats and eminent personalities of media at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. She hailed the role of small and medium scale industry entrepreneurs who contributed in economic growth and employment generation. Mrs. Gandhi also stressed upon increasing investment in physical and social infrastructure to boost demand at local level, endorsing the views of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Remembering the contribution of her mother-in-law, Indira Gandhi, she said that her decision of nationalization of banks is being hailed by all today and helping us to bear economic slowdown in efficient manner.

She said that government acknowledge the role of business community in the economic growth of country and will extend all possible help to industry in the hour of international crisis.
