Six injured in suicide attack outside Pakistani stadium
Islamabad - A bomber was killed and around half a dozen people were injured in a suicide attack at the gates of a packed sports stadium in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (NWFP) on Tuesday, officials said.
The blast occurred immediately after the conclusion of three-day inter-provincial games, District Coordination Officer Sahebzada Anees told reporters.
"So far we have reports that five to six people are injured and two of them are in critical condition," he added.
Another official who spoke on condition of anonymity feared the target of the attack could be the provincial governor, Owais Ghani, or some other ministers attending the concluding ceremony.
According to Anees, a suicide bomber blew himself up while trying to enter the stadium, where around 25,000 to 30,000 spectators were present. (dpa)
