Singapore dad gets 14 years in jail, caning for molesting daughters
Singapore - A Singapore court on Monday sentenced a man to 14 years in jail and 20 strokes of the cane for molesting his two daughters, media reports said.
The 49-year-old marine supervisor, who was not named to protect the identity of his victims, started to abuse his eldest daughter in 1997 when she was 10 years old and threatened to beat her if she told her mother.
His wife caught him repeatedly touching the girl's breasts, but let him off the hook as he promised to change, the online edition of Straits Times newspaper reported.
Both daughters also caught their dad peeping when they were taking a bath.
The victims, now 22 and 17 years old, together with her mother eventually reported to the police.
"Instead of nurturing and protecting them, you violated them to satisfy your sexual lust," the report quoted the judge as telling the molester.
"This court has to send a clear message that such acts will not be tolerated. Therefore, a deterrent sentence will be imposed on you," the judge added. (dpa)
