Sensex Surges 136.93 Pts In Morning Trade
Indian stock markets surged in morning trade today after closing its previous session in losses.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which belled the day at 19,353.34, surged 136.93 points to trade at 19,333.27 as against its last closure at 19,196.34.
On the other hand, the 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also remained the positive zone.
The broad-based Nifty was trading 51.6 points (0.9%) up at 5,799.4 points.
Broader markets were also trading in the green zone, with the BSE midcap index trading 0.65% higher and the BSE small cap index ruling 0.55% up.
After correcting acutely during late hour, the benchmark index for Indian bourses market recovered cleverly on Tuesday, though it still ended the day in the negative - its sixth successive downbeat closing.
The Sensex, which hit a high of 19,431.56 during early trades, but declined to 19,003.60 during the fag end of the session, closed the day at 19,196.34 after registering a loss of 27.78 points.
The Nifty, which touched an intra-day high of 5842.60 and an intra-day low of 5698.20 during the session, shut the shop at 5754.10, recording a loss of 8.75 points.
Among sectoral indices, the BSE Realty index lost 2.7% and the BSE IT index fell 1.6%.
BSE Teck, which has a number of IT stocks in its fold, dropped 1.27%.
Pharma and FMCG scrips concluded the day on a flat note.
