After opening on a weak note, the benchmark index of Indian stocks shed its early morning losses and was trading on a flat note.

At 9.24 a. m., BSE Sensex, which opened at 16,218.68 points, stood at 16,279.46, down 6.86 points as against its last closure.

The broad-based Nifty was at 4,869.25 as against its previous closure at 4,870.05.

The BSE Midcap Index was down 0.26% and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.33% lower

On Tuesday, Sensex ended with small gains amid lacklustre session. Buying action was seen across real estate, metal, pharmaceutical, IT and banking scrips while automobile, oil & gas scrips saw selling pressure.

The Sensex ended up 49.27 points at 16286.32. It hit an intraday peak of 16,324.93 and an intraday low of 16,178.91.

The Nifty closed up 13.65 points at 4870.05 after hitting an intraday peak of 4,884.10 and an intraday low of 4,833.15. (With Input from Agencies)
