Sensex retouches 20,000 mark, gains 184 points
After going down for two consecutive days, the Sensex was finally able to regain lost and touched the 20,000 mark on Friday.
The benchmark Sense gained 184 points to go back to a 32-month high. This happened because of sustained inflow of capital and and also because of a good confidence level in the investors.
The market wiped out the losses that it had accumulated during the last two session. The 30-share barometer of BSE closed after closing at 184.7 points up, or 0.93 per cent to end at 20,045.18. This is the highest level that it has managed to reach since January when the index closed at 20,251.09.
During the whole week, the Sensex has gained 2.29 per cent. And most of the rallies have been in the blue-chip companies.
On Friday, the gainers were HUL, ITC, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, realty and banking stocks.
Following the lines set up by Sensex and shrugging off the global cues was Nifty that gained 58.75 points to end at 6,018.30.
When the markets opened they were slightly low because of the low performance of Asian peers. But Sensex and Nifty soon recovered.
