Sensex Makes Recovery; Up 170.54 Pts
Indian stock markets today made recovery during morning trade to rule 170 points up as against its last closure.
The 30-scrip index BSE Sensex, which belled the day at 19,274.21, was trading 170.54 points up at 19,292.37 as against its last closure at 19,121.83.
In contrast, the broad-based Nifty remained at 5,792.9 after gaining 0.91%.
Broader market indices were also trading in the positive terrain as well with the BSE midcap index surged 0.88% and the BSE small cap index registered a gain of 0.69%.
Yesterday, the BSE benchmark index closed the day at 19,121 after registering a gain of 30 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange surged slightly by 11 points at 5,740.
But, the broader markets derived strength towards the last hour of trade, adding around 0.3% as compared to the Sensex's 0.1% gains.
The top gainers in the Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, L&T, HDFC Bank, TCS and DLF.
The major losers in the pack comprised Hero Honda, BHEL, HUL and ITC.
