The local benchmarks have ended in a negative node as all other markets in Asia were down. Both Nifty and Sensex were closed lower than their previous close.

Oil and gas index closed at higher levels while stocks from realty, capital goods and metals closed at lower levels.

Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark Sensex ended at 18183.90 down 255.58 points or 1.39 per cent after today’s trade. The intraday high and low of the index was recorded at 18326.33 and 17920.55 respectively.

On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 5455.25. It was down by 76.25 points after today’s trade with a decline of 1.38 per cent. Nifty touched an intraday low of 5373.65 and high of 5497.85 today. Reliance Industries was the only gainer in today’s trading session.

The BSE Midcap Index and BSE Smallcap Index were closed lower by 1.41 per cent 1.166 per cent respectively.
