Scientific proof to show that ‘ warm hands lead to a warm heart’

The age old saying- warm hands lead to a warm heart, has now been backed by science. A research was conducted by Lawrence Williams, an assistant professor of marketing at the University of Colorado, and John A. Bargh, a Yale University psychology professor.

It took the professor a few cups of coffee to prove his point. He says that the connection between warm hands and warm heart lies in our heads.

Hot cup of coffee were given to a group who was asked to assess a stranger on kindness and generosity. A second group was given iced coffee and asked to assess the stranger on the same points.

The group which was served hot coffee found the stranger to be warm and generous. But the group which was given iced coffee did not come to the same conclusion.

Another experiment was conducted using hot and cold pads. The participants were asked to select a reward either for themselves or for a friend.

Strangely enough it was the group given cold pads which preferred to keep the reward for themselves. The ones with a hot pad showed generosity of selecting a friend for the reward.

According to Williams, humans are sensitive to the environmental influences. He feels that the relationship between warm hands and warm thoughts is not a mere coincidence.
