Samsung still supplying iPhone parts to Apple
South Korean Electronics giant, Samsung is continuing to supply some important components that make up the iPhone to its rival Apple. This is despite a crude global legal infringement battle of claims and counter claims, what is going on between the two firms.
Experts say that Apple has little choice but to keep accepting for providing the iPhone 5's expected main processor, the A5, as well as system memory and flash memory components.
Some reports also indicate that Apple might be planning to switch to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for a "shrink" (smaller version) of the A5 for the iPhone 5. However, it not happen as SMC has not perfected the advanced manufacturing processes needed to make an A5 for the iPhone.
The American giant accuses Samsung of copying its phone smartphone and iPad tablet computer to create its Galaxy series of smartphones and tablets. Samsung's Galaxy devices are seen as among the biggest challengers to Apple's mobile products. Samsung is already facing restrictions on launch in the Australian market and its troubles seem to be increasing in European markets as well.
The Seoul based company, on its part, has counter sued Apple for infringing upon its patent rights in its products. Samsung devices are based on Apple's rival, Google's Android system and some believe that Apple legal battle against Samsung and other manufacturers is actually targeted against Android itself.
Apple may also face difficulties changing suppliers for the same chip design for iPhone.
