Samsung sold 100 million Galaxy S smartphones
South Korean electronics giant, Samsung Electronics has achieved a new milestone by crossing the 100 million mark for its Galaxy S series smartphones.
The company wrote on its Tomorrow Flickr page that the Galaxy S series crossed the 100 million threshold in 2 years and 7 months mark since the launch of Galaxy smartphone in May 2010.
The company also said that its Galaxy S3 is selling at a faster rate and it crossed the 1 million mark in just 50 days. The sales of Galaxy S3 crossed million units in 5 months, and 40 million in 7 month s and recorded an average sales of about 190,000 units per day. Meanwhile, the previous model, Galaxy S2 touched the 40 million mark in 20 months.
The company will soon offer Galaxy S2 Plus with Android's Jelly Bean operating system and many believe that the model will be the nest record breaker for the company. Samsung had launched its Galaxy brand with the 'Galaxy S' device. The company has since launched a host of devices under the popular series and has now crossed the 10 million mark
Samsung is directly competing with arch rival, Apple in the smartphone as well as tablet segment amid a continuing legal battle between the two firms.
