Samsung Displays 82-inch LCD TV Panel At Ongoing SID 2008
Samsung has showcased its latest 82-inches LCD TV panel with 3840×2160 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate at the ongoing Society for Information Display (SID) International Symposium, Seminar, and Exhibition 2008.
The massive LCD TV shows ultra-definition (UD) resolution at 120 frames per second and lessens the blurring that is normally experienced at 60Hz.
To improve the true color saturation to 150%, a red/green/blue LED backlight is also equipped.
Sang Soo Kim, executive vice president of the LCD Technology Center at Samsung Electronics explained, “This 82-inch LCD is large enough to cover all viewing angles with ultra-definition resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate that will allow viewers to watch motion pictures as if they are really in them.”
Moreover, the company has also launched an 82-inch “e-board” with a multi-touch screen, which is meant to put back customary whiteboards and beam projectors.
The e-board has been made by making use of a 60Hz LCD panel with integrated ultra-definition (UD) resolution.
Samsung has also displayed other products at SID 2008, which includes a multi-view digital information display (DID) provides 3D images and it eliminates the use of special glasses; a 40-inch full-HD LCD TV panel that works on two source driver ICs, leaving behind the normal combination of six source drivers and three gate drivers; a 15-inch LCD with a “blue phase mode,” and 2.3-inch e-paper that uses electrodes made from carbon nanotubes for enhanced “fold-ability.”
Samsung has not disclosed the availability and price information about the products up till now.
