Rupee at six-week high against dollar, gains 11 paiseThe Indian rupee gained 11 paise on Friday, to trade at a six-week high against the U. S. dollar. This is mainly due to the higher capital inflows and the loss by the U. S. dollar as against most of the major world currencies.

At the market of the Interbank Foreign Exchange, the quotation for the Indian rupee was at 11 paise higher which is Rs 46.08 for one U. S. dollar. This has been the highest since 28th June, in early trade.

The rupee had closed 3 paise lower at 46.19/20 against the dollar yesterday.

Investors have been saying that the reason for this gain is the capital inflows by foreign funds into equities which supported the sentiment of the rupee.

A total investment of about Rs. 860 crore was made by the FII in stocks yesterday, as the SEBI data says.

As the U. S. dollar became weaker against a most of the major currencies yesterday, this also added support to the rupee sentiment.

Meanwhile, the BSE index Sensex came up by 33.49 points, which is a rise by 0.18 percent in the opening trade today.
