Ruia Meets Trinmool Congress Leader Mamta Banerjee The chairman of Ruia Group, Pawan Kumar Ruia met Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee to discuss the issue of Dunlop factory closure in Sahagunj, West Bengal. Ruia group had suspended the work at the unit on November 30, amid political and workforce opposition. It has been demanding a loan of Rs 100 crore from the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBDIC) but the government has yet to respond.

Trinamool congress leader, after meeting with Ruia, said, "I told Ruia to open the factory immediately. He will talk to the worker’s representatives to formulate the modalities for reopening. We want the government to gives VAT exemption to Dunlop and provide soft loan as sought by the company."

Mamta Benergee criticized the state government and said that the state should behave equally with all companies. She demanded a financial package for the sick industry of the stat, in line with the central package.

Mr. Ruia said that he appraised all problems of the industry to the opposition leader and demanded her help to minimize the impact of the global slowdown.

Dunlop again requested the state to issue loan to reopen the factory. The company ruled out putting pressure on the CPM government of West Bengal. However, CPM state secretary Biman Bose said the policies are formulated by the experts, not by political leaders.
