Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable in custody after wife found dead
Authorities have said that a Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable was in custody after his wife was founded dead in their Edmonton, Alberta, home Saturday.
The 36-year-old Mountie, who was arrested at another location, had not been charged but the RCMP described his wife's death as a homicide, the Edmonton Journal has reported.
Alberta Serious Incident Response Team Executive Director Clifton Purvis said that police were sent to the couple's home after reports of shots being fired.
The department was "deeply saddened by the event," which he called "a tragic situation," said RCMP Assistant Commissioner Peter Hourihan.
According to the reports of the Journal, the couple's neighbors said they have two young sons and had lived in the neighborhood for about a year. Authorities said there were no children were in the home at the time of the woman's death. (With Inputs from Agencies)
