RNC spent thousands on Palin and family ‘looks’
Republican vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, is in news again! – This time around for the Republican National Committee’s reportedly $150,000 spending on her spectacular new wardrobe and accessories!
According to a report by the Politico Web site, the reported amount has been spent not on the candidate alone, but her family as well, since early September. The RNC also spent 4,716 dollars on the Alaska Governor’s hair and makeup, while wooing “Joe Six-Pack” to vote for John McCain.
The report, citing financial disclosure records, has all the detailed figures of the money spent at high-end stores - $49,425.74 at Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Manhattan and St. Louis; $75,062.63 shopping spree at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis; $9.447.71 at Macy’s in Minneapolis; and $5,102.71 at Bloomingdale’s in New York
Such kinds of expenditures did not appear in the RNC’s financial disclosure records before the Alaska governor was named to John McCain’s ticket in August, the report added.
Shortly after the report appeared online, the McCain-Palin campaign spokeswoman, Tracey Schmitt, issued a statement saying:
“With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it’s remarkable that we’re spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses.”
Another spokeswoman, Maria Comella, when questioned about the issue by Politico, declined to answer specific questions about the expenditures, including whether it was necessary to spend that much.
However, all that Comella said was that the campaign “does not comment on strategic decisions regarding how financial resources available to the campaign are spent.”
