RJD MP Rajesh Kumar Manjhi to be suspeded from Parliament 30 Sessions for Cheating

A Parliamentary group has suggested suspension of Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Rajesh Kumar Manjhi from Lok Sabha for 30 sessions. The declaration to accept Manjhi’s suspension is likely to be adopted by Parliament tomorrow.

The insensitive proposal arrived after Manjhi’s wife Pramila appealed Somnath Chatterjee to take legal action against her husband as he had been purportedly journeying across the country with some other woman posing as his wife.

Besides commending his reprimand and postponement for 30 sessions, the group said, “Manjhi should also be restrained from taking his spouse or companion on official tours till the conclusion of the 14th Lok Sabha.”

The Parliamentary Committee to make inquiries into Misconduct of Members of Lok Sabha, directed by V. Kishore Chandra S. Deo, delivered its statement in the House today in the Manjhi case, who represents Gaya SC constituency in Bihar.

This is the second time such a commendation has been made against an MP. The board said the MP had unashamedly distorted the unrestricted facilities on an functionary tour.

“These acts tantamount to cheating and impersonating which are penal offences as well as a conduct unbecoming of a member,” the committee added.
